How to get to Cayo Perico in GTA 5 Story Mode

Cayo Perico in GTA 5 story mode

The Cayo Perico Heist provided a welcome addition to the GTA Online map, but it is possible to reach it in GTA V Story Mode as well with a little work.

To see this in action, please watch our video above.

To do so, you’ll need to have enabled the Enhanced Native Trainer set of mods. Instructions on how to do this are in our video below:

Once you’ve setup the Enhanced Native Trainer, then you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Open up the Enhanced Native Trainer
  2. Go to Locations > ‘Load Online Map’
  3. Then again in Locations > ‘Load Cayo Perico Island Automatically’
  4. Then one final time in Locations, teleport to Cayo Perico or the Aircraft Carrier nearby and you’ll see it from the deck, so just borrow a jet and fly there in style!

Once you’re there, it’s a strange version of the GTA Online Heist island. These are some of the things we noticed:

  • There’s nobody there, unless you spawn in other people using the Enhanced Native Trainer or likewise give yourself 5 stars to get the cops flying to the island
  • All of the loot lockups are open inside and outside the compound, but unfortunately there’s no loot
  • Some vehicles spawn on the island, including El Rubio’s car just outside the compound gates
  • All doors are open, except those to access the compound itself – again you’ll need a mod to spawn a heli or to use the Airbrake Mode to teleport through walls
  • The aircraft hangar isn’t rendered properly and shows a transparent floor
  • The island itself actually floats a few metres above the sea – again if you use the Airbrake Mode you can swim underneath the island!
  • The fire inside El Rubio’s office is still alight and the door the basement will open, but there’s no fingerprint cloner or way to get downstairs in the lift unless you use the basement entrances from outside
  • If you increase the size of the waves through the ‘wave intensity’ mod, then the waves will appear through and above the island!

Give it a try and let us know anything else you spot in Story Mode…

Is there a way to do it in Story Mode, with no mods AND on PlayStation 4?
