How to do only minimum setup for Cayo Perico Heist

Miniumum prep setup

While you can spend hours completing every part of the setup for the Cayo Perico Heist, you don’t actually have to. There is only a minimum level of setup required to undertake the heist which means you can save a lot of time when repeating it.

Watch our video above to see the minimum setup options.

Intel phase

In terms of the minimum setup for the Intel phase, you only need to find the primary objective by climbing up the tower and hacking into the security cameras and viewing the basement room where the safe is located.

How much else you do depends on your strategy – are you looking for full loot, are you planning to use the guard uniforms and how are you planning to get into the compound?

For example, you only need to find one of the four guard uniforms, even if you are completing the heist as a group. A bag can only carry so much loot per person (2-3 stacks depending on its value). You only need to find the grappling hook if you’re planning to use it. You don’t have to poison the guards or spot the supply truck.

Even if you haven’t scoped all the items, they are still waiting for you across the various locations to be found if you change your plans mid-way through the heist.

Prep phase

Again, you only need to complete some of the prep phase tasks. The weapon setup is mandatory and is about choosing the most appropriate weapons for your approach – more aggressive or more stealth, e.g. sniper rifle?

In terms of approach vehicles, you only need one and which one depends on your strategy for completing the heist. For example, are you planning on filling your loot bag before entering the compound and where has the loot spawned? In which case, the Velum or Longfin might be the best approach vehicle for you. Or maybe, you are targeting the gold inside the compound, so the Kosatka and its drainage tunnel approach is all you need.

Also at play is how long it takes to do the approach vehicle heist prep. For example, the Velum is quick and easy to steal whereas the Kosatka requires good combat skills.

For the Equipment prep you only need to complete the last 3 as the Demolition Charges (a time-consuming prep) are only required if you plan to blow up the main gate (which ruins the stealth approach).

Finally, the Disruption preps are all optional and again depend on your approach. If you plan on staying in stealth mode and are accurate with head shots, then there’s no need to use them at all. If you’re not so accurate, then the armour prep is worth doing and is relatively easy if you use the Sparrow heli and a rocket launcher when inside the building.
