Smugglers Plane is a random event in GTA Online which will earn you $25k for a few minutes work. It involves a plane crash landing into water and the recovery of a suitcase of cash and subsequent escape from the cops.

To trigger the random event you need to be near one of the five possible locations as shown in the video above having spent at least 35 minutes in a Public or Invite-only lobby. It can spawn again after another 35 minutes have elapses.
The random event does not always spawn in a lobby, it is random after all, so it’s generally not a efficient use of your time to go looking for it and it’s better just to participate if if spawns near you when you’re going about your usual nefarious business in GTA Online.
When it does spawn you will see a blue dot on your map. The blue dot is a plane going down in flames – follow it and then dive to the bottom where you need to look for a flashing suitcase at which point you’ll also pick up two wanted stars. Ignore the suitcase on the surface as that’s not what you’re looking for. Swim to the flashing suitcase and you will collect the $25k. Escape the wanted stars and go back about your day.
P.S. It’s not to be confused with Smuggler’s Cache which is another random event where you follow a series of flares to track down another suitcase of loot.
