As part of the changes released after the Criminal Enterprises DLC, a new Buried Stashes Random Event has been added.
To start it you’ll need to find the Metal Detector and associated map which is located on a skeleton which spawns in one of ten random locations.
You can see all 10 of the locations in the video above and all are located around the coast in the southern part of the map.
The quickest way to find the specific location is to use a helicopter and fly over the location at a low height – when you find the right one a blue Random Event dot will appear.
Walk up to the skeleton and around it and a notification will tell you to pick up the Metal Detector and then to view the map. The map itself doesn’t show the location of the treasure – no ‘x’ marking the spot – but that is revealed when you reach Cayo Perico.
You’ll need to start The Cayo Perico Heist in the usual way and then when you do the initial Intel Scoping mission you will see two question mark icons appearing on your map. Enter the circles surrounding them and click on the button shown to use the Metal Detector keeping an eye out for any guards nearby.
The Metal Detector beeps more quickly and more blue bars are shown as you get nearer. Light up all the blue bars and you will then see an icon appear on the map with the location.
There are two to collect each in-game day and they will spawn in different locations, but are always shown on the map making them relatively easy to find.
You only gain $15k per Buried Stash, plus some RP, but it’s something new to do and a worthwhile distraction if you’re used to grinding The Cayo Perico Heist.
