How to stop multiplayer social club invites in GTA Online

How to block multiplayer invites GTA Online

If you’ve started getting multiplayer invites every few minutes in GTA Online, you’re not alone. If these are from a GTA friend that you know then they are genuine, but the recently spate of notifications are almost always from players you don’t know, but what are they and how can you stop them?

What are the multiplayer invite notifications

  • You will see them in GTA Online as a small alert top right for a few seconds
  • They are actually spam, part of a growing problem in GTA Online, that we’re also starting to see in the group chat text spam
  • Some of them relate to Twitch channels, others Discord pages
  • It goes without saying, but don’t visit any of the links

What can you do to stop them

  • The simplest thing to do is to know that they are spam and simply to ignore them. After all, it’s a small box that disappears after only a few seconds
  • However, you can block them entirely by going into your Social Club menu (press the ‘Home’ button to open it if you’re on a PC keyboard)
  • Then click on the ‘Settings’ icon top right and click on ‘Enable’ for ‘Hide Notifications
  • The good news: that’s it, you’ll no longer receive the annoying spam notifications
  • The bad news: it will also block other Social Club messages from your Friends
  • The bad news: you’ll need to reset it each time you play the game
  • In addition, you can try to block that player, but bear in mind that the spammers use multiple names and it may not even be that specific account that’s sending them
  • Ultimately, we need Rockstar to block this and other forms of spam to make the problem go away properly
