If you’re frustrated at why Google Sheets doesn’t open at the tab you want, then there’s a quick fix.
Watch the video above to see it in action.
It’s strange when you type in your Google Sheet name or open it via a bookmark, but it opens at an old tab when you’re working on the latest one probably on the left.
There’s a simple explanation.
Each Google Sheet tab has a different URL (address). So, when your browser opens the link for the document it is simply opening a specific URL for a specific tab (usually the one you’ve opened most in the past).
To change this all you need to do is to go to the tab you want and copy the URL (address) and then update/edit your bookmark or indeed create a new bookmark for it.
The related issue is that your browser will usually default to the most opened URL for a document, so you need to change that. Copy the URL of the tab you want and then open that page and if not the next time, then after a few times it will open at that tab by default for you.
You can of course delete your history to start afresh with the document but bear in mind that it will delete the rest of your browsing history, so is probably not worth it.
