The Armoured Truck Random Event is back, after being reintroduced by Rockstar in July 2023.
There has been some confusion as to whether they spawn in Invite-only as well as Public Lobbies, partly caused by the randomness of when they do spawn, not entirely unexpected given they are a Random Event.
As the video above shows they do indeed appear in Invite-only lobbies which means you can explore the 10 possible locations on the map in peace without having to worry about attacks from Oppressor MK2s.
You need to be in a free mode session for at least 16 minutes and then to be within 400 yards of one of the 10 locations shown in the video above. The Armoured Truck, otherwise known as the Security Van, will appear as a blue dot on the map as with other Random Events.
It will move slowly, but the blue dot will disappear if you don’t keep within range. To open the Armoured Truck drive behind it with a Sticky Bomb and throw it at the truck. It may take 3 Sticky Bombs, or sometimes less, to open it after which a case will fall out of the back and then the two guards will emerge to attack you. Walk up to the case and a marker will appear for you to pick it up.
On normal weeks you will earn $25k plus RP, but for launch Rockstar doubled the money to $50k plus RP.
You will then need to escape any Wanted Level and wait for a further 20 minute cooldown period although it’s not guaranteed that one will spawn again in your session.
Of course there are more profitable ways to spend your time than searching nearly the entire map for a $25k award that may or not spawn, but if they are nearby then it’s worth doing more than once.
