Once you’ve installed NiceHash Quick Miner on PC, there’s then the question of which algorithm you should be using.
It’s all the more important after the end of the more profitable Ethereum mining period pre-merge which was the default for so long on Quick Miner and many other crypto mining products. The returns are much smaller than they used to be, but how do you know which algorithm to choose?
The options are currently (likely to change in the future as the algorithms change and evolve):
- DaggerHashimoto
- Autolykos
- Kawpow
- EtcHash
Returns from the various algorithms change over time and it’s difficult to know which one to pick at any time. However, you can avoid the issue and get Quick Miner to do the calculations for you through auto profit switching.
You set it up in the following way if you’re on PC:
- Open the NiceHash Quick Miner menu from the Notifications Area on the taskbar (bottom right)
- Right mouse on the NiceHash logo
- Select ‘Profit switching’
- Click to select the algorithms one at a time. You can select all 4 at once.
- Then click on ‘Done’
- Finally, if Quick Miner is running, click on ‘Stop’ and then ‘Start’, or just on ‘Start’ if it’s not currently running
How, Quick Miner will switch between the most profitable algorithm without you having to get involved.
Note: I had some trouble initially when setting this up where the Excavator window kept opening and closing. If that’s the case you may need to go back to only having the one algorithm at a time. Try it a few times to see if it’s a temporary issue.
