When is the next Grand Theft Auto released?

The wait is nearly over…

There has been huge speculation as to when the highly anticipated next version of Grand Theft Auto is coming – GTA V. There were even some rumours that Rockstar were going to abandon the franchise to concentrate on other titles, such as Max Payne and Red Dead Redemption.

However, the good news is that there will be a GTA5 and that it is due in spring of 2013. And the source? Not Yahoo Answers, but Rockstar themselves who recently announced that Grand Theft Auto V is in ‘full development’.

There’s more information on when and where it will be based. It’s set in a ‘re-imagined, present day Southern California’ and the city of Los Santos.

The less good news is that the announcement only covers Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with no mention of iPhone, iPad or Android versions, although one of the publicity shots does show a character from the game with a Smartphone, so there’s still hope this will follow shortly.
