Who needs a button anyway?
One of the iPhone’s key features is the lack of buttons, so when the sole button is not working, you may assume that is it for your beloved gadget, until you’ve visited the Apple Store for a repair or replacement.
However, all is not lost with a simple workaround. There is in fact an alternative home button that you can enable. This is tucked away in the accessibility settings, but once you know it’s there, it can be invaluable if you’ve damaged your iPhone. It’s there for those who have difficulty touching the screen or for those who require an adaptive accessory. To find it:
- Go to Settings
- Then General
- Next Accessibility towards the bottom of the menu
- Tap on AssistiveTouch and set it to ‘On’.
- You’ll now see a white circle on a black background fading to grey
- You can drag this to where you want it on the screen
- Tap on it and you’ll have four options: Siri, Favourites, Device and there it is, Home
- Crisis on hold
